March Meetup Topic: AI, Human Agency, & the Creative Process

In this month’s meetup, we’re exploring the role of human agency in the creation of artistic content using AI tools.

How much control do you maintain over the creative process when using AI?
Where do you draw the line between the steps/decisions you outsource to technology and those you reserve for yourself as the human artist/creator?

To investigate these questions, we’ll look at case study examples from artists and creatives incorporating AI technologies into their creative processes.

About Artists and the Age of AI Meetups:

Artists and the Age of AI is a group for artists, creatives, and technologists in Austin working at the intersection of art and AI. We value innovation, human artistry, and the ethical, responsible, and productive use of AI in the development of creative work.

We host in-person meetups the second Thursday of the month at Capital Factory in downtown Austin. Meetups are opportunities for members to enhance their knowledge about AI, stay updated on innovative tech-centered creative practices, and build professional connections across disciplines of art and technology. Sessions feature presentations, interactive Q & A’s, and group discussions by leaders and experts in the field on different topics.

Artists and creatives in all disciplines and at all levels of experience, especially those currently using AI or interested in using AI for their creative projects, are welcome. Our meetups are a warm, collegial, and inviting space to exchange perspectives, opinions, and concerns about the current state and future of the arts, AI, and technology.

Meetups are free and open to the public. All are welcome. You do not need a Capital Factory membership to attend.
