Enjoy an introduction to the basics of Bharatanatyam and the technical aspects which make this dance form so vibrant in an interactive workshop led by Sheela Srinivasa, Director of Nritya Mihira Dance Academy.

During the workshop, you’ll learn a few dance moves and a short dance to take home. The format of the workshop caters to those who are new to this art form or just curious about it.

Note: Due to capacity limitations, there are a limited number of free RSVPs for each event. We encourage you to RSVP via the pay-what-you-can donation ticket and reserve the free RSVPs for community members who cannot afford to attend otherwise.

About the Presenter
Sheela Srinivasa is a passionate Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher. She is the Director of Nritya Mihira Dance Academy in Austin, where she teaches young dancers the nuances of the dancer form and prepares them for certifications courses both on theory and practical aspects of Bharatanatyam.

Sheela trained under illustrious Guru Dr. Hema Govindarajan from the age of 9 in Bangalore. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate studies in Bharatanatyam from Vedic Wellness University. She has performed in prestigious productions like Dashavataram, Visions of Shakti, Sri Krishna, playing multiple prominent roles.

Along with her dancing career, she works as a Senior Project Manager at CitiBank, a teacher at Art of Living Youth, training kids and teens on life skills and breathwork, and also as a mother to her son who is pursuing his Engineering at University of Houston currently.
